Open Access Services at ICTP
Marie Curie Library
The Marie Curie Library's main aim is to offer essential high quality services and
provide information support to ICTP researchers, visitors and participants
in the activities organized by the Centre.
The Library houses one of the largest collections of specialized
literature in physics and mathematics in Europe, with more than 66,000
books, 439 current print subscriptions, and access to 3,600 e-journals.
Scientific Publications
The Publications Office processes research papers produced by authors during their stay at ICTP. These scientific technical papers, in diverse fields, are prepared in the form of preprints or reports. Support is provided for camera-ready documents for journal submission and conferences. The office also manages the ICTP Lecture Notes Series, a series containing unpublished material presented at ICTP meetings. The Publications Office provides editorial assistance, technical support for word processing programmes, e.g. Tex/LaTeX and Word and advice on planning and developmental editing for large documents and large document sets to authors, editors, referees. These publications are printed in-house by the Printshop.
The sources of preprints and complete volumes of the Lecture Notes Series, are placed online for the benefit of the scientific community.
Science Dissemination Unit (SDU)
The establishment of the Science Dissemination Unit (SDU) at ICTP in 2004 is a concrete example of actions oriented to tackle the access to scientific and technological information, one of the most pressing digital and scientific divide issues placed at the center of globalization's asymmetries.
